Compatibility

The EBT Unlock Key and EBTsmart Unlock Key are browser-based licence tools for unlocking compatible Bosch e-bike systems. The correct product depends on the electronic platform, not just on the motor name printed on the bike.

• EBT Unlock Key: for many compatible Bosch BES1 / BES2 systems from Gen1, Gen2, Gen3 and Gen4 BES2
• EBTsmart Unlock Key: for many compatible Bosch Smart System bikes on BES3, including Gen4 BES3 and Gen5 BES3
• Not compatible: Bosch Gen1 with HMI display
• ABS note: ABS is not supported by the EBT Unlock Key. On Bosch Smart System, ABS is supported only with the EBTsmart Unlock Key up to 32 km/h

Tip: If you are unsure whether your Gen4 bike is BES2 or BES3 / Smart System, check the charging connector first. A round charging port usually indicates BES2, while a square charging port usually indicates Smart System.
