1. General Information
1. What is the NBT Unlock Key?
The NBT Unlock Key is a browser-based Bluetooth tool that unlocks the factory speed limitation on compatible Ninebot scooters. No app, no cable, no PC – just your smartphone and browser.
2. Is the unlock permanent?
Yes, the unlock is permanent for the specific scooter unless you manually restore factory settings. You can revert to stock anytime using the same tool and link.
3. Is tuning legal? Does it void warranty?
Tuning is only legal on private property in most countries. Using a tuned scooter on public roads is usually forbidden and may void your warranty. Always check local laws.
4. Does this increase motor power?
No. The tool only removes the software speed limit. Actual power and torque remain unchanged.
5. Are safety features (overheat, battery) still active?
Yes. Built-in protection features such as overheat protection and battery cutoff remain fully functional.
6. What languages are available?
The interface is automatically displayed in English or German. MountainTuning.com supports over 25 languages for purchasing and support.
2. Compatibility
7. Which scooter models are supported?
Currently, the NBT Unlock Key is compatible with Ninebot G2D, F2D, F2D Pro, F2D Plus, F3D, F3D Plus, F3D Pro, G3D, G30D, G30D II, ZT3D, and ZT3 Pro D. Check the shop for up-to-date compatibility.
8. My model is not listed. Can I try anyway?
If your scooter isn't supported, the tool will show an error and will not consume your license. No risk in trying, but unlocking is only possible with compatible hardware.
9. Do you support Xiaomi, SoFlow, or other brands?
Not yet. Support for other brands is planned for the future, but currently only Ninebot models work.
10. Will it work on scooters with aftermarket controllers or prior tuning?
No. Only unmodified, original Ninebot scooters are supported. Hardware-tuned or non-original controllers are excluded.
11. Does firmware version matter?
Yes. Some firmware updates may block the tool. Always check the compatibility page before buying or updating firmware.
12. Can I check compatibility before buying?
No, compatibility can only be checked after entering a valid license key and connecting via Bluetooth. Always check the online compatibility table.
3. Functionality & Use
13. How does activation work?
1. Power on your scooter.
2. Open the link from your purchase email in your browser.
3. Enter your 25-digit license code (copy-paste, include hyphens).
4. Follow the instructions for the brake/throttle combination.
5. Unlock is complete within seconds.
14. When should I activate the unlock?
Activate immediately after turning the scooter on, before riding or rotating the wheel. If not, restart the scooter and try again.
15. Can I set my own button combination?
Not yet. Custom combos are planned for future updates.
16. Why is the rhythm of the button combo important?
Timing and accuracy matter: press the brake/throttle exactly as shown, not too fast or slow. Practice if needed.
17. What speed can I expect after unlocking?
Top speed varies by model and battery. Example: G3D up to 45 km/h, ZT3D up to 40 km/h, GT3D up to 50 km/h. All measured with full battery and no load.
18. My scooter isn't as fast as expected!
Charge fully, ride 400 meters, then recharge again. Test on flat ground with correct tire pressure, no wind, minimal weight. Cold or low battery reduces speed.
19. Can I use the original Segway app after unlocking?
Yes, but it must be closed (not running in the background) during unlocking. You can reinstall it after unlocking if you uninstalled for the process.
20. What if the brake combo does not work?
Try both brakes if you have front and rear, press firmly, follow the number of presses exactly. If it still fails, restart scooter and browser and try again.
21. My scooter will not connect or be detected.
Ensure Bluetooth is enabled, the Segway app is closed (fully, not just minimized), and the scooter is powered on and within range. Try another smartphone (preferably Android) if issues persist.
22. The site says 'Scooter not supported'.
F2 models sometimes have rare controllers.
G3/G2/ZT3/G30/F3 require original, untuned hardware. If you see this message, unlocking is not possible on your unit.
23. 'Scooter is being connected' remains forever.
Restart both your phone and the scooter. If still stuck, try a different device/browser. Android is often more reliable for Bluetooth.
24. What about error messages?
'No device found' – Check Bluetooth, range, close Segway app.
'Browser not supported' – Use Chrome (Android) or Bluefy/webBLE (iOS).
'License invalid' – Double-check your code, use copy/paste. If unsure, contact support.
4. Licensing
25. Where can I buy the NBT Unlock Key?
The NBT Unlock Key is sold exclusively at MountainTuning.com and EBikeTuningShop.com.
26. Can I use one license on multiple scooters?
No. Each license is valid for a single scooter only, unless you buy a multi-license bundle for workshops or fleets. Licenses are locked to each scooter's serial number.
27. What if I lose my license key?
Contact support with your order details. Lost keys can be reissued if you can prove your purchase.
28. What if I don't receive my activation link?
Check your spam folder. If missing, contact the shop where you purchased your license.
29. Can I transfer a license to another scooter?
No. Each key is permanently tied to one scooter. Transfer is not possible after activation.
30. What if I buy a new scooter?
You need to purchase a new license for each new scooter. Licenses are not reusable.
31. Is a refund possible if my scooter is not supported?
If your code was not used (no unlock attempted), refunds may be available. Once a license is used or assigned, it cannot be refunded.
5. Display Behavior
32. Will my scooter display change after unlocking?
After unlocking, the display may still show the original speed limit, but you will notice increased real speed. This is normal for most Ninebot displays.
33. Why does my display beep after unlocking?
Some models (like ZT3 Pro D) beep due to internal controller settings. This does not affect function and may be resolved by future software updates.
34. Can I reset the display to factory settings?
Yes. Use the same unlocking tool and choose the reset/factory option. All speed limits and behaviors will return to original state.
35. My display shows 'Error' after unlocking.
Follow the troubleshooting steps in the manual. Usually, restarting both scooter and phone will clear errors. If not, contact support.
6. USB Connection & Cable
36. Do I need a cable to use the NBT Unlock Key?
No cable is required. Everything works via Bluetooth and your smartphone browser.
37. Can I use a PC or Mac for unlocking?
Unlocking is only supported on Bluetooth-enabled smartphones with compatible browsers. PCs and Macs are not recommended and may not work reliably.
7. Browser & System
38. Which browsers are supported?
Use Chrome on Android, or Bluefy/webBLE on iOS. Safari on iOS supports Bluetooth only with iOS 17 or higher. Always allow Bluetooth permissions when prompted.
39. The page says my browser is not supported!
Try closing the browser completely and reopening it. If problems persist, install Bluefy or use Chrome. Ensure Bluetooth and Internet are active.
40. Do I need an internet connection during activation?
Yes, a stable connection is required to validate your license and activate the scooter. If you lose connection, restart the process.
41. Can I use a tablet?
Yes, if it has Bluetooth and a compatible browser. However, smartphones are recommended for the best user experience.
42. Can the process fail due to slow internet?
Slow internet may cause timeouts. Make sure you have a good connection before starting.
8. Locking and Reversibility
43. Can I revert my scooter to factory settings?
Yes. Use the reset function in the unlocking tool at any time.
44. Can I lock the scooter again after unlocking?
Yes. You can restore the original speed restriction as often as you like with the same license and link.
45. Does the scooter lose settings after reset?
No. Only the speed limitation changes; all other settings remain unchanged.
46. Is my license invalid if I reset?
No. The license remains valid for the original scooter and can be used for future resets or re-unlocks.

47. How quickly do I get my license code?
License codes are usually delivered instantly by email. Certification may take 30–90 minutes. Please be patient and check your spam folder if needed.
