EBTsmart Unlock Key for Bosch Smart System
EBTsmart Unlock Key for Bosch Smart System: Digital licence code for compatible Bosch Smart System e-bikes, allowing motor assistance to be optionally increased to up to 32 km/h or up to 45 km/h – without additional hardware. In 32 km/h mode, speed, distance and mileage remain accurate.
The EBTsmart Unlock Key is a browser-based unlocking solution for Bosch Smart System bikes. Activation takes place online, with no software installation, no chip, no dongle and no motor disassembly required. All you need is a PC, Mac or Android smartphone with a browser and a suitable USB data cable to connect your bike.
This solution is designed specifically for Bosch Smart System and works – depending on the exact configuration – with or without a rim magnet. It also supports many special setups such as DualBattery, e-Shift and different display / remote combinations.
Key Features
- Fully browser-based – no app and no software installation required.
- Permanent activation – remains available even after battery replacement.
- Compatible with Bosch Smart System – including many setups with or without rim magnet.

Important note on BDU logic for Bosch Smart System:
When choosing the correct solution for a Bosch Smart System e-bike, the general label “CX”, “Performance Line” or “Smart System” is often not specific enough. In many cases, the exact BDU code of the drive unit is the more relevant identifier. The BDU is Bosch’s internal designation for the motor family and helps distinguish between technical variants and special configurations.
In practice, shortened family labels such as BDU31, BDU33, BDU37 or BDU38 are often used. These short labels usually refer to entire BDU families rather than one exact variant. That is why a designation like BDU37 may cover several specific sub-versions.
Typical Bosch Smart System BDU families include:
- BDU31
- BDU33
- BDU37
- BDU38
- BDU3142
- BDU3143
- BDU3144
- BDU3145
- BDU3780
- BDU3781
Known Bosch Smart System drive units / BDUs:
- Performance Line SX – BDU314Y
- Active Line – BDU332Y
- Active Line Plus – BDU334Y
- Performance Line – BDU336Y / BDU346Y
- Performance Line PX – BDU347Y
- Performance Line CX – BDU374Y / BDU384Y
- Cargo Line – BDU374Y / BDU384Y
- Performance Line CX Race Limited Edition – BDU376Y
- Performance Line CX-R – BDU386Y
Why this matters in practice:
Shortened labels such as BDU31 or BDU37 can be useful for first orientation, but they are often not precise enough for a full compatibility assessment. The final evaluation always depends on the specific combination of BDU, rim magnet, ABS, e-Shift and the overall Smart System configuration. If you are unsure, check the exact BDU code in the eBike Flow app before ordering.

Important Information & Tips
- Please enter the licence key with hyphens and without spaces.
- Make sure you use a fully functional USB data cable, not a charging-only cable.
- The USB port may be located on the display, the remote or the controller in the top tube, depending on the bike.
- The activation process may take several minutes.
- After activation, the riding profiles should be configured correctly in the eBike Flow app.
- For maximum assistance performance, factors such as riding mode, support setting, gearing, drivetrain adjustment and tyre pressure are relevant.
- You can switch back to the original 25 km/h limit at any time and re-activate the unlock later if required.
- The optional 45 km/h setting can be selected repeatedly, but it is not available for bikes with ABS.
- Once the licence code has been used, it is excluded from refund.
- If minor bugs occur, they are documented and considered in future updates.

Important Notice Regarding E-Bike and E-Scooter Tuning
Please be aware that modifying your e-bike or e-scooter through tuning – whether by software or hardware – may have significant legal, technical, and safety implications depending on your country or region.
Legal Considerations
-
Loss of street-legal status:
In many countries, tuning removes the vehicle’s classification as a standard e-bike or pedelec or e-scooter. As a result, it may no longer be legally used on public roads or cycle paths. -
Restricted use:
Tuned e-bikes and e-scooters are typically only allowed on private property or designated off-road tracks and competitions, depending on local regulations. -
Possible legal consequences:
Operating a tuned e-bike or e-scooter in public may lead to legal issues, such as:- Requirements for vehicle registration, insurance, and a driver’s license
- Violations of traffic and insurance laws
- In some countries, using an unregistered or uninsured tuned vehicle may result in fines or penalties
-
No liability or insurance coverage:
In the event of an accident, insurance providers may deny coverage, and victim compensation programs may not apply. This could lead to personal liability for damages or injuries. -
Warranty voiding:
Any tuning may void manufacturer warranties and affect consumer rights.
Technical and Safety Risks
-
Increased mechanical stress:
By removing speed limitations or altering motor behavior, your e-bike or e-scooter is exposed to greater loads on brakes, drivetrain, and electronics. -
Accelerated wear and reduced safety:
Components may wear out faster, and performance could be compromised, especially at higher speeds for which the bike was not originally designed.
Use at Your Own Risk
MountainTuning products are intended for private use only. We do not recommend using tuned e-bikes or e-scooters on public roads. By using any tuning product, you agree to take full responsibility for any legal or technical consequences.
Always check the laws and regulations in your country before making any modifications to your e-bike.
